REGISTERED PSYCHOTHERAPIST

I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, where you as the client are the expert of you and your story, and as we work together to build trust and a relationship, I can lend my clinical skills to aid in achieving your therapeutic goals. My approach is grounded in the style of therapy called Motivational Interviewing, where I strive to be collaborative and empathetic in order to elicit behavioral change.

My aim is to create a space that is built on non-judgement and empathy so that we can maintain a safe space to explore your concerns and goals. I tend to utilize multiple modalities depending on your needs and desired outcome for therapy, that include but are not limited to trauma informed, IFS, CBT, DBT, EFT, Narrative, Solution Focused, and Family Systems Therapy. I believe in therapy, creating a safe space to share vulnerabilities is a part of the process of empowerment, in turn we can feel less burdened and symptomatic in doing so. I hold this experience as a privilege, to join in your process of discovering new truths, meaning and solutions.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and I hold a Masters of Divinity, in Clinical Counselling from Tyndale University. I have specific training and certifications in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and training in Motivational Interviewing. I am a certified Prepare and Enrich Facilitator, and have worked with many couples to help prepare them for marriage focusing on their strength and growth areas. I have also worked with many children, youth and families in several specialized programs. In therapy, I tend to use an eclectic style, weaving together behavioural therapies, meaning oriented discussions, and strength based approaches. I have worked with many clients who have been afflicted with depression, severe anxiety, trauma, and am also trained in suicide prevention and ASIST.

Q&As

  • What is therapy to you?

Therapy is a sacred space, where together we can find peace, calm and balance for the challenges that you bring to our space.

  • What does good mental health look like for you?

Good mental health is a journey, that can see ups and downs that I believe are all good when you are not alone.

Good mental health to me is a massive spectrum, where we have on one side best practices and on the other mental illness. When we can implement best practices and manage mental illness if present, we can work toward creating a balanced mental health.

This process is ever changing and can utilize strategies that fall into categories like: social health, financial health, physical health, emotional health, relational heath, psychological health etc.
